What is Springboot

An open-source technology called Spring Boot makes it simpler for programmers to produce independent digital goods as well as spring applications that are ready for production, including Java programmes and web services. It makes use of a micro framework, making it ideal for developing microservices for websites and mobile applications.

Pivotal Software, which VMWare acquired in 2020, is the owner of Spring. Pivotal has also launched Cloudsleuth, RabbitMQ, and Pivotal Cloud Foundry.

Over the years, Spring and Spring Boot have experienced numerous upgrades. As of March 2022, Spring Boot 2.6 is the most recent version.

For developers to build and deploy applications and services very quickly, Spring Boot was created. These are the top two benefits of Spring Boot.

It is also simple to understand why it appeals to so many coders because neither code generation nor XML documentation are ever necessary (more on this below).

Features

  • Develop independent Spring applications
  • Directly embed Tomcat, Jetty, or Undertow (no need to deploy WAR files)
  • Offer opinionated “starting” dependencies to make your build configuration easier to understand.
  • Whenever possible, automatically configure Spring and third-party libraries
  • Offer features that are ready for production, including metrics, health checks, and externalized configuration
  • There is no need to generate any code and no XML setting is necessary.

Advantages of Springboot

  • Shortens the time spent on development and improves the development team’s overall effectiveness.
  • Assists in automatically configuring every component of a Spring project fit for production.
  • Provides a basic setup for unit and integration tests, which makes it easier to create and test Java-based applications.
  • Assists in reducing the amount of manual labour required to create boilerplate code, annotations, and intricate XML setups.
  • Has embedded HTTP servers for testing web applications, such as Jetty and Tomcat.
  • The Spring ecosystem, which consists of Spring Data, Spring Security, Spring ORM, and Spring JDBC, may easily be integrated with Spring Boot.
  • Offers a variety of plugins that developers may use to quickly and easily interact with embedded and in-memory databases.
  • Enables quick connections to a variety of database and queue services, including Rabbit MQ, ActiveMQ, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Solr, and ElasticSearch.
  • Offers administrative help; you can control the application through remote access.
  • Reduces dependencies and includes an embedded servlet container.
  • Provides flexibility for configuring Java Beans, database transactions, and XML setups.
  • Provides quick access to the command line interface, facilitating agile development and testing of Spring Boot apps created in Java or Groovy.
