Rancher Certification Details

Rancher offers a number of certifications for individuals who want to demonstrate their expertise in using the Rancher Kubernetes management platform.

Certified Rancher Operator: This certification is designed for IT professionals who have experience managing Kubernetes clusters with Rancher. The exam covers topics such as installing and configuring Rancher, managing clusters, deploying and managing workloads, and monitoring and troubleshooting.

Certified Rancher Administrator: This certification is intended for IT professionals who have experience designing, deploying, and managing Kubernetes clusters with Rancher. The exam covers topics such as architecture and design, security and compliance, cluster lifecycle management, and advanced troubleshooting.

Certified Rancher Engineer: This certification is aimed at IT professionals who have deep expertise in Rancher and Kubernetes. The exam covers topics such as advanced cluster management, customizing Kubernetes deployments, integrating with third-party tools, and optimizing performance and scalability.

To become certified, you need to pass an exam that tests your knowledge and skills in using Rancher. You can prepare for the exam by taking courses and completing hands-on labs provided by Rancher. Once you pass the exam, you will receive a digital certificate that you can use to demonstrate your expertise to employers and clients.

SCA in SUSE Rancher 2.6

How to Earn the Certification

To earn the SCA in SUSE Rancher 2.6, you need to pass the core exam.  There are no prerequisites to achieve the certification.

Candidates who achieved the SCA in SUSE Rancher 2.5 by passing the core SCA in SUSE Rancher 2.5 exam have also been awarded the 2.6 certification and do not need to re-certify.

SCDS in SUSE Rancher and Kubernetes Distributions

The SUSE Certified Deployment Specialist (SCDS) in SUSE Rancher and Kubernetes Distributions is designed for DevOps and Deployment Engineers and System Administrators. It demonstrates knowledge of how to deploy Kubernetes clusters with RKE, RKE2 and K3S, both from the command line and from SUSE Rancher.    This certification also demonstrates knowledge of how to deploy SUSE Rancher on Kubernetes, how to backup and restore RKE and RKE2 clusters from the command line and back up RKE with SUSE Rancher. 

How to Earn the Certification

To earn the SCDS in SUSE Rancher and Kubernetes Distributions, you need to pass the core exam.  There are no prerequisites or alternative ways to earn the certification.

The SUSE Certified Deployment Specialist (SCDS) in Rancher Prime Manager and RKE2 is a professional certification designed for DevOps and Deployment Engineers, System Administrators, and other IT professionals who want to demonstrate their expertise in deploying, backing up, restoring, and upgrading Kubernetes clusters with RKE2, as well as deploying, backing up, restoring, and upgrading Rancher Prime Manager. This certification demonstrates a thorough understanding of these technologies and the skills required to effectively use them in a professional setting.
