What is TFS?

Team Foundation Server (TFS), now rebranded as Azure DevOps Server, is a comprehensive suite of development and project management tools provided by Microsoft. TFS integrates various aspects of the software development lifecycle, offering features for source control, project management, build automation, testing, and release management. It supports both centralized version control through Team Foundation Version Control (TFVC) and distributed version control using Git, allowing teams to manage code repositories effectively. TFS also includes tools for tracking work items, managing project tasks, and facilitating agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban. It automates build and deployment processes to support continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), enhancing the efficiency and reliability of software releases. By providing a unified platform for development, collaboration, and project tracking, TFS helps teams streamline workflows, improve code quality, and accelerate project delivery.
