I have been a dedicated TOEFL Instructor for more than 12 years. Learning the
TOEFL is a challenge because it is not simply about knowing English, but actually requires test strategy and
tactics that have proven results. The TOEFL is an online exam and so your taking this course will allow you
to study in the format that is best for the exam.
This is a FULL and COMPLETE Course. We do not teach a surface level course that tells you the basics of the
exam. To truly break down and simplify the questions for you so that the test becomes easy requires the
depth of explanation we give. I teach you as if you were taking a full in-person course that would require
extensive training. Based on our style, our students often increase their score by 15 - 20 points or more.
Our course teaches the strategies in a practical manner so that you can apply them on the exam.

Learn about the benefits from taking our course
This lecture will provide you a quick overview of what you will encounter on the exam,
After this lecture, you will clearly understand what will will provide in this course. You will know the focus of our teaching and how we will help you succeed.
In this video, you will learn the benefits and outline of our course. This is a COMPLETE course that will teach you every aspect of the TOEFL.
This accelerated course is for those students who are already familiar with the TOEFL and do not need the extra lecture that show application of strategy. Some students desire a more streamlined course and this arrangement is for those students. Of course our recommendation is to do the complete course from start to finish. We tend to give a lot of examples of the explanation of strategy and for some students this is more than they need. As a result, we have created an accelerated syllabus.
Our TOEFL Reading course will provide the skills and strategies that you need to simplify and excel at the exam.
This videos lecture will provide you an overview of the TOEFL Reading section and share with you our general tips to be successful in this section of the course. If you need to, stop the recording and read each slide carefully.
Watch and grasp the information you will learn in this section. We teach the specific strategy for each question.
This video reviews all of our reading strategies in a summarized format.
Look at the question and identify the Question Type. Being able to identify the question type, recalling the appropriate strategy, and then accurately applying that strategy is the key to scoring well.
In this lecture, we breakdown the different Trap answers that you need to watch out for. In the specific strategy lectures for each question, we point out for you when these traps make an appearance.
We have now updated our strategy for the Detail Question, so that it reflects some of the news ways the TOEFL test designers are trying to word and challenge you. Please watch these videos and learn exactly how to do this question type.
NOTE:
For the first question that I analyze in this strategy application, a student could have read that next sentence because of the word "But." A sentence that starts with the word "But" is connected to the previous sentence. However, the keyword sentence had ALL of the keyword language and most importantly, it has the language "quickest where" that directly connects to the answer. A person would be perfectly fine in reading that next sentence. I probably should have explained in the lecture that although it would be appropriate to read it, it actually is not helpful because we have the language that points directly to the answer. I actually did this mentally, and forgot to take it from my head to the screen. One last point: when the next sentence starts with the word "But" yes it is connected; however, the word "But" indicates conflict with the keyword sentence and will likely not provide helpful information. This is why I don't really consider it on the same level of "this that these those" for pointing to the answer in the following sentence

Practice answering the inference questions.
If you want to simulate test pressure, put a timer in effect. Very often students question why they perform well in practice and badly on the exam. The reason why is because they do not simulate test pressure.

This is your opportunity to practice taking conversation notes and comparing to my notes
These are some of the reasons that students do not do well when taking lecture notes. Did you know that ETS, the creators of the TOEFL, has done actual research on the relationship between Note-Taking and Exam performance? Here is what they said: "The significant relationship between number of test answers found in the notes and performance on the various assessment tasks suggests that those who were able to write down more information relevant to the tasks were also the ones who scored better on the tasks. "
The test is designed to benefit those who know how to take notes and answer questions based on those notes.
Learn the language that helps you take great notes!

There are actual students from this course in the live class, and so questions that they ask are being answered. Even though it is not perfect, I have been asked to still upload it so that others who missed the class can benefit.
